Good conduct and traditional etiquette form the foundation of all practices in our Dojang underpinned by our observance of the tenants of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.

Seungri 승리(pronounced See-ung-ree) means ‘Victory’ in Korean reflecting the aspirations of what we stand for, in that we are constantly striving for improvement, excellence and the best outcomes in all aspects of life through the practise of Taekwondo.

What is Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is the Korean martial art of self-defence. Its origins date back 2000 years. Today it has developed into one of the most widely practised martial arts in the world and is an Olympic Sport. Translated, Taekwondo means, the art (Do) of ‘striking with fists (Kwon) and feet (Tae)’. But it has more meaning than just that; Taekwondo builds strength, stamina, flexibility and greatly improves one’s overall well-being. It develops athletic abilities, and capabilities in self-defence situations. Taekwondo also provides many other benefits such as learning how to apply self-discipline, competitive awareness and improved social skills. Through practising Taekwondo, students of all ages (particularly children and teenagers) learn respect for themselves and others, heightened concentration, situational awareness and self-restraint.

Training at Seungri Taekwondo

We practise and teach the World Taekwondo Olympic style. Members wear a traditional uniform (Do-bok) and belt which can be purchased from Seungri Taekwondo and train in bare feet. New members can wear shorts or track pants and a t-shirt until they get their Do-bok. Please be sure to bring a drink bottle with water when you train. To keep the practice of Taekwondo safe and enjoyable for everyone, all members are required to observe the Seungri Taekwondo Code of Practice which will be handed to new members upon joining. We welcome new members and beginners anytime, including those who have previously practised Taekwondo or another martial art and are looking to get back into training. Please contact us to book a trial class or for more details. We look forward to you joining us and getting your Taekwondo journey under way.
